Autobiography Dr. George D. Raithby is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Raithby received his BESc and MESc from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Ontario. He obtained his Ph.D. with a Major in Mechanical Engineering and Minor in Mathematics from University of Minnesota. Between 1968 and 1997, Dr. Raithby served as Assistant, Associate and Full Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department, University of Waterloo. He was the President of Advance Scientific Computing (ASC) from 1985 to 1991 and served in various posts at ASC between 1991 to 2001. Dr. Raithby received various awards including Maple man of the year, Fellow of ASME and CSME, CANCAM Medal, Distinguished Teacher Award and Distinguished Professor Emeritus. Dr. Raithby's research interests include algorithm development, solution of inverse (design) problems, calculation of radiation heat transfer, free surface flows, in the area of computational fluid dynamics. His research interests also include the measurement of natural convection heat transfer and the development of design equations based on approximate solution methods. |
